CHORLEY, United Kingdom, Jan. 7, 2016 - Today, Westinghouse Electric Company announced that the company’s Springfields facility in the United Kingdom has reached the requirements necessary to manufacture Westinghouse Small Modular Reactor (SMR) fuel. A key first for the U.K.’s SMR program, this readiness milestone is an important part of Westinghouse’s proposed partnership with the U.K. government to deploy SMR technology – a move that would advance the U.K. to becoming a global provider of the latest nuclear energy technology.
PITTSBURGH, Jan. 4, 2016 - Westinghouse Electric Company today announced that the company received U.S. government approval Dec. 31, 2015, to complete the company's acquisition of CB&I Stone & Webster Inc., the nuclear construction and integrated services business of CB&I. Westinghouse announced on Oct. 27, 2015, that the company had signed a definitive agreement to acquire CB&I Stone & Webster Inc.

Westinghouse President and CEO Danny Roderick was recently interviewed on FOX's Opening Bell, where he discussed the state of the energy industry. While the focus was primarily on the impact of the recent decline of the oil industry, Danny touched on the U.S. jobs created from the nuclear power plants Westinghouse is building in China, the need for nuclear as a key factor in meeting greenhouse gas emission targets, and how regulatory costs in the nuclear industry impact the nuclear industry's competitiveness in the world energy markets.
Westinghouse signed an agreement with Sprinkle vzw to support a South African rural child care center close to the Drakensberg Ukhahlamba National Park. Westinghouse is providing the necessary funding to connect the child care center to the national electricity grid, operated by Eskom, as well as to cover the costs of the monthly power consumption.
